| Hi Everyone-
Well the month of November holds an exciting time for the bird club. The nominations for next year’s board members are under way and also the nominations for next year’s speakers will be presented in the December meeting. Please be sure to get your favorite speaker nominated for the chance to come to Alaska and visit with us in person! My term with the Bird Club is coming to an end and it’s time for someone else to have the most wonderful experience of being the bird club president. I will remain on the board as President Emeritus as dictated by the bylaws, so I will still oversee the actions of the board. I highly encourage you to become involved. You get to meet some very intelligent, caring and loyal bird owners and gain knowledge from everything you do. It’s a wonderful network of people helping people and people helping parrots.
The trend to eliminate waste less over-breeding of parrots are starting to be seen and with the smart choices of pet stores not selling these magnificent creatures over the counter, we are starting to see a wonderful trend of re-focusing our efforts to take care of the ones that we have. We now enrich their lives with fun perches, great compelling toys, good nutritional food and endearing one-on-one time. Once we discovered how much work it really took to own one of these wonderful parrots, I have seen people actually set limits to how many they own and that’s wonderful. I would like to think that each parrot is getting what they need as far as interaction, care and stimulation. I’m very happy when someone starts a conversation with “Guess what my parrot did” instead of “Guess what I got”. It really makes a difference. Take care of yourselves and your birds. Come to the meetings and bring your knowledge. What wisdom you take home might change the lives of your birds.
Stay Safe,
Lin
