Jade loves his bath
By Dee Powers
Our bird buddy this month is a Quaker who has been a representative at the Wasilla Pet Zoo almost every month
for the past six months.
Entertaining as only a Quaker can be Jade had a small adventure last month when this bird; who normally doesn’t
fly, did a fly around the Pet Zoo. Thus proving that even birds who don’t usually fly will do so when you least
expect it.
Dee P., his owner states: "Jade came to me through The Alaska Bird Club Adoption Program from a
student on her way to college. He has been with me for about 3 1/2 years.
He doesn’t like to fly. He is contented to sit on his perch or "Mom", climb his tree or sit in his cage. He is
antisocial, except when he goes to the Pet Zoo. Then, he loves to show off.
He whistles at my vacuum, like a man would at a good looking woman walking by. He also repeats certain whistles
and can say, "Come here". He loves to give kisses.

Just washing my feet, Mom!
When he wants a kiss, he will make that loud kiss sound much as you might do with a small child.
He is my all around buddy. I am a full time student at home. He loves attention and will let me know if I get too
busy, and he needs me, he lets me know."
We look forward to meeting this little Quaker at our August meeting.
